Repeated Offender…

avatar graphicEgads, two posts in one week after countless months ( seven ) of silence. Something must be wrong with time and stuff. While I do hold not so popular theories on time in general, that’s actually not the issue here. Things have been going well, and I’ve actually hit a visual streak of creativity. I know it doesn’t necessarily mean much to the unknowns who read here, but I’ve been able to draw the same character to scale in three completely unique positions in a short period of time.

This is in fact a first for me. I have staple characters that I’ve drawn lots of, but I’ve never been able to do so more than once or twice without the drawing looking completely awful. This time though they’re all very good. And on top of it all it’s an entirely new, unused character!

I’m very impressed with myself. Now if only I could get my programming together and actually put up a gallery function on the media page so I could share it. And also my scanner. But it’s getting there!

In other news, I cannot believe I posted on 1.11.11 and didn’t make mention of the fact that it was a Binary Date. In fact, it’s the third of nine this year, and this year will be the last of them until the 22nd Century. Which I find amusing for separate reasons.

Ready Room…

avatar graphicIt’s a pretty obscure pun, I get that, but I’m not kidding, I’m ready, and there’s room. Besides, who needs Facebook when you have a real website? Okay, I guess a lot of people. Five million people can be wrong though. They called it the Dark Ages for a reason.

Side note for those of you who don’t get this? Yes. It’s been a while.

I’m sure you can cope.

Influencing Works…

avatar graphicSaints alive, it’s been a long time since my last post. I’ve recently been working on a few side projects with some friends that have been eating up most of my time, so I haven’t really had the mental acuity to work on my own items. Mostly this is because I’ve been trying to avoid any sort of bleed over. I have a habit of gleaming influences from all over the place, and while I don’t mind lending my work to other people, I try and avoid using other people’s work in mine.

For the unaware, what that means is that if I’m working on my own stuff, I’m not dealing with influences from just about anywhere else. No books, no tee vee, no movies. All work and no beer or tee vee makes Vid a better writer. Not that I’m above making pop culture references, of course.

Well for those of you that are curious to what I’ve been working on, I had recently started communal writing again. Most commonly with an old staple character of mine named Xavier Darnai. Not really going to get into too many details yet, except to say that currently he’s headed for a world of physical hurt and emotional torment. He’s always been one of my favorite characters, and he’s relatively unique. He draws from my own personality of course, as all good characters from any writer do, but he’s certainly my superior in many ways. When I finish up what I’ve been doing with him, I’ll certainly see about arranging the works in a way they can be posted here.

I used to do short stories here pretty frequently, way back when, and they were a lot of fun, though I was never terribly convinced about the quality of work. I’ve been self publishing these to a few fans though ( about twelve of them ), and they seem to be going over well. They’ve certainly been fun to write, but it’s even more fun knowing other people are reading them. What can I say, writers are vain.

I can’t promise posts are going to be more frequent now, but I will try and at least keep some updates about what I’ve been working on. After all, that’s what this whole site is for, right? Right? Right?!

Yes.

Maybe.
