Custom Stock

Often the first thing done to improve the performance of a personal firearm is to modify the stock to the users liking; adjustable materials for ease of movement, sturdier materials for a firmer grip, or weighted materials for better control. There are many different ways the stock of a weapon can be adjusted, and a list of their effects can be seen below.

Custom stocks can be replaced or exchanged with a DC15 Mechanics Check, but stocks that have been removed from a weapon can only be applied to another weapon with the same Classification.

Collapsible Stock: Be it a slide and tension bar, hinge and clasp, or mechanized extension brace, a collapsible stock can be used to make a weapon more versatile and improve its mobility. Collapsing, folding, or retracting a weapons stock allows its user to make attacks of opportunity, but the weapon cannot be braced for Autofire attacks. Collapsing or extending a stock requires a Move Action.

Cost: 100Cr
Hard Points: 0
Restrictions: Only compatible with Medium and Large Ranged weapons. Cannot be applied to Autofire Only weapons.

Reinforced Stock: Solid wood, full metal, or other high impact materials can be used to add a bit of weight and heft to a firearm, allowing it to be used to strike an opponent with the butt of the gun. For many this is a last resort, for others it is an opportunity to strike an opponent off guard. Reinforced strikes allow Ranged weapons to be used as Simple Melee weapons; Pistols and Rifles provide a +1 Equipment Bonus to unarmed damage on a successful attack, while Heavy Weapons provide an additional +1d4 to damage.

Cost: 200Cr
Hard Points: 0
Restrictions: None
Special: A reinforced stock increases the weight of a weapon by 25%.

Adjusted Stock: Typically custom made for the user and the weapon, adjusted stocks provide a series of counterweights and slides that allow for a surer grip of the weapon and a more precise aim. Once per encounter, the Aim Action can be performed with a weapon that has an adjusted stock equipped using a single Swift Action instead of two. Before the feature can be used again, the stock must be readjusted by the user with a DC10 Mechanics check.

Cost: 300Cr
Hard Points: 1
Restrictions: Cannot be applied to Autofire Only weapons.
Special: When applied to a Sniper Rifle, an adjusted stock uses 0 Hard Points.
