Designer CasingA common concern of the wealthy and the young is the aesthetic nature of the items that they carry, and even though a Personal Shielding Unit is a matter of safety and self defense, the utilitarian design of an emitter can be considered quite gauche. Since the 20th century people have been placing their electronic devices into fancy casings or other objects to hide their nature or at least apply a veneer of personality. For a minor fee, many artists or craftsmen can be commissioned to rework the design of the emitter that can allow it to be worn in a number of different ways; perhaps fitted into a necklace, worn on the hip as a lucky charm, or even built in to a corporate security company's badge. Designer Casings can reduce the Size of a Shield by one step, and provide a +5 Equipment Bonus to Stealth and Deception checks made to conceal or hide the nature of the device. The exact design of the unit us up to the buyer, but it cannot be larger than the original unit, and must be able to be worn within reasonable personal contact in order to stay functional. Costs
