Fuel Core

The energy revolutions of the 22nd century lead to development of new energy technologies largely as a way to eliminate the dependence on fossil fuels. One of the earliest and most reliable replacements was a chemical composition known as 30-9d-12 ( slanged as "Tetranine" ), a highly ionized complex matter that coalesces in a liquid state, and when pressurized remains almost permanently solid. Containing a shockingly high mass-energy equivalence, it remains almost perfectly inert without a directed catalyst.

Typically found in self-contained cylinders with standardized fittings, a Fuel Core is the most common form of expendable fuel for any number of systems.
