Soldiers of the Guilang, Zhelezny Molotki, UNMS Hardwing, certain bounty hunters, and a few very successful pirates are fitted with heavy armor. Ostensibly, heavy armor protects against most normal small-arms fire, but in the arms race of offense versus defense, the offensive power of a high powered shot is still far ahead of most anything a humanoid can wear and still have the ability to move. Heavy battle armor can be sealed and provides the same benefits as full-body laminate armor.
