LanguagesHumanity is complex, and communication more so. In the Local Spur, language has largely compressed to few core languages that have been adopted by almost all citizens. Some have varied dialects, which may impact diplomatic negotiations. Below is a list of the common core languages used by humanity in the Local Spur, but all humans speak either HHPP Standard or UN Common (sometimes both), as they are the confirmed languages of the two governing bodies. Languages are gained from your chosen Homeworld, the Linguist? feat, or as a result of your Intelligence Modifier ( one bonus language for each +1 granted by the attribute rating ). Sublists are dialects of that language. When you select that language pick one dialect; you can understand anyone who speaks another dialect, but may experience difficulty in terse discussions with someone who speaks a different dialect of that language than you do. If you earn another language choice and select a language with multiple dialects that you have previously learned, you can select two dialects. For example, if you already speak UN Common (American) and have earned another language choice, you may select UN Common (Kings & Canadian) as a single language choice.
