Prosthetics - Standard Limb ReplacementsEver since the days of early human history the need to replace a damaged or lost limb has been a common medical requirement. Eliminating the handicap caused by illness or injury can allow a person to lead an otherwise normal life, and with advancements in both medical science and the field of robotics what may have once been a career ending injury is now a matter of availability. A skilled surgeon can manage a basic cap or peg for the stub of an arm or leg, perhaps a lost finger, but the specially trained ( See the Cybernetic Surgery Feat? ) can do so much more. By combining a series of muscle leads and sensors, power supplies and gyroscopic servos that respond to thought and natural movements, a cybernetic prosthesis can function just like the original limb. As well, because of their mechanical chassis, it is also possible to install additional features or systems into a cybernetic replacement. While this does remove the drawback of hampered movement or capability, it does impart its own drawbacks; having a cybernetic prosthesis makes an individual vulnerable to Ion Damage, causing them to take half the amount of damage dealt as opposed to the quarter value of damage those without prosthesis and implants receive. Less common and slightly more expensive than the cybernetic prosthesis is the option of a Sequenced Automass replacement. Always custom tailored to the individual, they take several days to produce but also do not expose the recipient to the vulnerability of Ion Damage as their mechanical counterparts do. A Sequenced Automass replacement functions as if the limb was never lost in the first place, and as a result cannot be outfitted with additional systems. Cybernetic Limb Replacement
